Epic Games gives away free licenses for their newest game engine in an effort to promote Unreal Engine 4 and to help aspiring game developers make better games in the process.
Unity might still be the go-to game engine for many indie developers, but Unreal Engine 4 is not just sitting by. To promote the Unreal 4 Engine, Epic Games is arranging a series of events that will showcase the engine’s capabilities to aspiring developers and indies. The events are free and participants will be awarded with a full one-year license for the engine.
Epic Games is aiming to reach out to future developers, hoping that they will use the Unreal 4 Engine for future projects. Unreal Engine 3 was used in a variety of different projects ranging from small indie titles to big budget AAA titles on platforms such as Pc, Ps3 and Xbox360. Unreal Engine 4 takes things a step further, and now it is time to reach the massive amount of game development students.
One of these events takes place at the IT University of Copenhagen, on the 12th of December. The event is free and every participant gets a free year long license for Unreal Engine 4. Sign up for the event here or follow the livestream of the showcase on Twitch if you are unable to make it to the event.
At the event, the Unreal Engine 4 expert Sjoerd De Jong will talk about the engine and the possibilities it provides followed by a talk from ITU student Michał Królikowski, who will talk about his experiences learning to use the new engine.
