Serious Game Cluster invites you in to a playful event where more than thirty developers will be showcasing their games on November 17th.
Serious Gaming Cluster Finland is a newly launched association primarily concerned with serious games, which is a genre that, as the name implies, have a focus on the more serious aspects of gaming. An example could be games that are designed to educate or to help people in different ways by teaching, acting as a motivator for exercise and so on. Serious Game Cluster divides the genre of serious games into these 4 additional sub-genres:
– Learning based games
– Games that strive to improve the well-being of people
– Exercise games
The Serious Gaming Cluster Finland was originally invented by Samuli Syvähuoko, who is one of the old veterans in the Finnish game industry and the founder of Helsinki GameWorks, which was recently acquired by NextGames. The idea came to Syvähuoko when he started to notice that a lot of Finnish developers were developing “serious games isolated and cutoff from other developers”, Matti Kuha, the Chairman of Serious Gaming CLuster Finland Explains.
Kuha also points out that the industry for serious games and for gamification is growing rapidly, with a promising future ahead. The goal of the event is to showcase what is currently happening in the industry, both to help create communication and inspiration between developers in this particular field, and to show the potential to consumers and investors.
At the event, you will be able to meet thirty developers in the field of serious games, who will be presenting and demoing their products. The event takes place in Helsinki on the 17th of November and tickets should be pre-registered before the 14th of November by contacting them.
