Almost Human Wins “Game of The Year” award for Legend of Grimrock 2

The readers of Finnish magazine “Dome have voiced their opinions and the votes are in! Legend of Grimrock 2 by Finnish developer Almost Human took the spot as “game of the year in 2014”.

This isn’t the first time Almost Human have won the award, however. The original Legend of Grimrock, which was released in 2012 as a hardcore roleplaying game, also won the exact same Dome “Game of the year” award in 2012.

And now, only two years later, the Almost Human team is at it again, ranking in the award for the sequel “Legend of Grimrock 2”, with the Dome readers praising the game for its advanced and surprising gameplay, and its overall high quality.

Winning once again in 2014 with the sequel of the original Legend of Grimrock makes you wonder what it is Almost Human has figured out. Winning the same award twice, the studio surely must have done something right. While there is never any “secret sauce” for success, the Almost Human team certainly has experience in their respective field.

Located in the southern city of Espoo in Finland, the Almost Human studio was founded in 2011 by former Max Payne 2 and Alan Awake developers from Remedy Entertainment. The studio’s first game was Legend of Grimrock, which seized the wave of obscure and difficult games that followed the popularity of From Software’s Dark Souls, which was released in 2011.

Nordic Game Bits have reached out to Almost Human for a comment, and will update the story when we hear back from them.
