About NordicGameBits

At NordicGameBits, we believe in the true awesomeness of Nordic game developers, and we work daily towards positioning the Nordic region as the very center of game development!

We want to bring forward the stories of Nordic game developers, and to increase knowledge sharing within the industry in doing so. We do this through committing ourselves 100% to the game developers within the region, as well as publish content ranging from event coverage to interesting Nordic gaming-industry insights. We are here for the game developers and studios in the Nordic, and we are not afraid to publish the honest game developer stories – both the successful, and those less so.

Our vision is to create a platform that can inspire existing and future nordic game-projects and companies, thus bringing the entire gaming industry in the Nordic region forward. We want to be the first to write about the most interesting Nordic game-projects, as well as cover the industry as a whole in order to both give every aspiring talent, as well as existing game-developer a place to get their daily news and share their knowledge.

The mission is to create a hub for everyone interested in game development in the Nordic, and through NordicGameBits.com to help boost the growth of the entire industry by sparking discussions, encouraging debate, and facilitating knowledge sharing.

The Audience
We write for the novice game developer who just can’t stop! And the startup who is about to publish their first game. But we also write to bring increased awareness and attention from investors, business angels, and politicians to the Nordic game development-scene, so that the Nordic game industry will finally gain the international acknowledgement it deserves and position itself  as a serious(ly awesome) industry.

THE TEAM

NordicGameBits.com consists of a team of dedicated people who love gaming companies from the Nordic. We believe we have the professional expertise and knowledge to find and communicate about the most interesting companies, trends, and topics in the Nordic game development scene, but judge for yourself!

Co-founder & CEO – Sune Blindkilde Thorsen

My role is to constantly come up with new ideas and find ways to develop and improve NordicGameBits on a day-to-day basis, interview awesome personalities, and write interesting articles. It is a great adventure, which involves working with some of the best and most inspiring people in the Nordic.

I do not believe that Nordic game developers get enough primetime in international media at the moment, and I most definitely believe that they could use a media to internally communicate with each other through.

That is why I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring NordicGameBits onwards and forward. To ensure improved communication amongst Nordic game developers, to inspire new developers, and to help spread the word about a group of the best game developers in the world – the Danes, Swedes, Norwegians, Finns!

Co-founder & Editor-in-Chief – Jesper Krogh Kristiansen

Have written about the Danish and Nordic games industry for more than 10 years for outlets such as Eurogamer, IGN, MetroXpress and Gameplay, and also hosts the independent podcast, Spilmagasinet, with games journalist colleague Julie Horup.

Also work as an audio designer, having created the sounds of crisis, combat and crushing depths for a number of Nordic developers over the years, and have also produced small-scale complete games for some clients.

Academic background is a Masters Degree in Media Science and Design from the University of Copenhagen.

Co-founder & Advisor – Daniel Glassow Friis Laursen

Old gamer and participant at The Party in Aars for several years, still remember Commodore 64, Amiga 500, Fast Eddie, and Boulder Dash!.

Business development, network and experience is my skill set and I want to give game developers a much better chance for exposure and growth

As a writer, the best that can happen is when you get to write about something you’re passionate about, and that’s exactly what I get to do. I love gaming, and I have huge respect for the painstaking process of developing games, so not only do I get to grow as a writer and learn more about myself and the Nordic gaming industry, but I also get to cover exiting news and developments behind the curtains of said process. Alongside the welcoming staff I can’t wait to learn more about the ever growing community of game enthusiasts.
