PocketGamer Connnects Helsinki Connects the Nordic

Featuring 5 main tracks, a very big indie pitch, a bunch of Nordic and international speakers, and an indie showcase, the PocketGamer Connects Helsinki conference sets out to connect the entire Nordic mobile games industry, and as a NordicGameBits reader, you get 25% off on the tickets!

After attracting over 750 attendees in 2014, SteelMedia’s PocketGamer Connects mobile gaming conference returns to Helsinki, Finland, on the 7-8th September this year.

This year’s conference will consist of 5 different tracks; “The Finnovators”, “East Meets West: Global Mobile Gaming”, “Indie Inspiration”, “Acquire, Engage, Monetize”, and a “Bonus Level” track.

Each track will see countless industry veterans and awesome indies take the scene in a series of short-term lectures and panel sessions throughout the two days.

And among the speakers this year are a bunch of known faces from the Nordic games industry, so if you’re looking to mingle with the most wanted Nordic game developers, PGConnects might not be the worst place to be at on the 7-8th of September.

Some of the confirmed speakers include Julie Gilmartin from Rovio, Julius Fondem from Small Giant Games, Lasse Hirvonen from Kyy Games, Petri Järvilehto from Seriously, Aki Järvilehto from Everywear Games, and way more Nordic and international game developers.

But PGConnects isn’t only about talks and panel sessions this year, as a big part of the conference is also the “Very Big Indie Pitch”, which is a pitching competition for indie developers.

The format of the competition is that each of the 50 pre-filtered game developers get 4 minutes to pitch their game to each table of judges (consisting mostly of games journalists), in a “speed dating” style. Once all games have been pitched, the judges will find a winner of the competition.

The top developers will win a share of a promotional prize package worth $7,000, which can be spent on advertising on PocketGamer’s website.

The competition takes place on Monday the 7th, and submissions to the competition are still open.

Tickets for PocketGamer Connects Helsinki are $300 if you are a developer, but with the NordicGameBits discount, you save 25% on most ticket types
