Spilbar has issued an open call for VR games to be showcased at the next event in Copenhagen, where Dan Moskowitz will also be talking about how to “make the most of VR”.

Spilbar, the monthly event for game developers in both Copenhagen and Jutland, have now unveiled their plans for the next upcoming incarnation – the 25th of its kind – May 12th in the Film House in Copenhagen. The theme will be Virtual Reality, or VR as it is more commonly known.

VR is one of the most talked about trends right now, and was also one of the major themes at this years Game Developers Conference. The technology is maturing at a very fast rate, but is missing content that uses the new technology. This is where the game developers come into the picture.

As a part of the upcoming Spilbar event, the organizers have chosen to issue an open call to all game developers who are working with VR, to come to the event and show off their games to the audience. And there are very few limits to what can be showcased, according to the official call.

Everything goes: games, weird playful prototypes, or simulations.

Accepted entries will get five minutes to present their work on stage, and will also have the opportunity to showcase it to the audience during the mingling that takes place after the official talks, as people sip their beer. Beer, by the way, that has been sponsored by KnapNok games this time around.

In addition to the showcase, the VR Spilbar will also feature a talk by VR expert Dan Moskowitz. With over 15 years of experience from Maxis, Electronic Arts, Sony, and Walt Disney Imagineering, he is now working for Oculus Rift on their internal content team, developing a still unannounced project.

At Spilbar, he will talk about how to overcome some of the specific challenges posed by producing games for VR, as well as give insights and best practices around the topics of comfort, locomotion, and input in virtual reality.

Deadline for submitting projects to the VR showcase is May 7th, and it can be done here.

Spilbar no. 25, “VR the World” will take place at Filmhuset in Copenhagen Tuesday, May 12th, 2015 16:30-19:30. You can find the full program here, at DADIU, who are the organizers of Spilbar in Copenhagen.
